Building a team on FIFA 14 Ultimate Team may seem like a fairly straightforward process, but there are many factors users must consider before randomly purchasing players.
As most of you will be aware by now, Chemistry plays a very important role in FUT and the way it works this year is slightly different to previous years. If you are unaware of the full details of the newly improved Chemistry System, we recommend you read our recent ‘FUT 14 Chemistry Guide‘ before continuing.
Decide on a suitable formation:
Ok, so you understand chemistry, now it’s time to decide on a formation for your first squad on FIFA 14 Ultimate Team. This year there are a number of new formations, including varieties of original formations. So for example, if you’re a fan of the 4-2-3-1 formation but wish it had left and right midfielders instead of two CAM’s (central attacking midfielders) either side, then you’re in luck! The new 4-2-3-1 (2) formation gives you this option! Another great example is the widely used 4-3-3, this year there are 5 variations of this formation! All the new variations are invaluable when it comes to fine tuning a formation to suit the positional requirements of a league or nationality, or chemistry links between certain players. This will ultimately allow for much more variety and variation in FUT squads this year.
Available formations in FUT 14:
- 4-1-2-1-2 (2)
- 4-2-3-1 (2)
- 4-3-3 (2)
- 4-3-3 (3)
- 4-3-3 (4)
- 4-3-3 (5)
- 4-4-2 (2)
- 4-5-1 (2)
How do I link my players?
Simple, as mentioned in our ‘FUT 14 Chemistry Guide‘, it’s now time to pick a League or Nationality to link your team together. If you have a combination of players in mind from different leagues and nationalities then why not put your FUT team building skills to the test and try creating a ‘Hybrid Squad’? For those of you unaware, Hybrid Squads are when certain players are linked in specific groups, like a triangle or a diamond for example. Hybrids can contain a variety of Leagues and Nationalities with specific links to gain maximum/full Chemistry, however it’s important to note that Hybrid Teams are undoubtedly more complex and may take longer to plan and work out how each player will link in a certain way to gain as much chemistry and possible.
Once you’ve decided on a system on how your players will link together, you’re now at the stage where you can start looking to buy them from the Transfer Market. If you have a starting team in mind, but don’t have enough coins to complete it, then we strongly recommend you check out our brand new ‘FUT 14 Coin Making Trading Guide‘! By following the steps in this guide, you will gain a HUGE advantage over other FUTers when it comes to trading.
When you’ve completed your starting team, you now have the option on FUT 14 to apply individual chemistry styles to each player. This is a fantastic way of putting a personal stamp on your team and increasing each of your player’s stats to suit your own style of play!
Available chemistry styles in FUT 14:
- GK Basic
For a more detailed look at each of these chemistry styles and exactly how they affect each player’s stats, be sure to check out our ‘FUT 14 Chemistry Styles (Attribute Boosts)‘ page! This is a great page to favourite/bookmark, as you may need to refer back to this a lot when remembering exactly what each style does.
